Kistarter Image Vote!

Hey Gang,

As I mentioned in the last update, the current Kickstarter date for issue #3 is scheduled for late September. Gavin did an amazing job coming up with the image for our campaign. But we need your help deciding whether to go with day or night?

We've been posting on the social media channels as well, and will collect the votes together to make our final decision. Let us know your thoughts in the comments. That's it for now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Rum Row Issue #3 Art Complete!
almost 5 years ago – Tue, Jul 30, 2019 at 10:46:23 PM

Hey Gang,

I know it's been a while, but I didn't want to bombard your inbox unless I had something worth talking about. As of today, Rum Row issue #3 art and colors are complete! We have some minor tweaks to make, and then it's onto the lettering. As you can see below, Gavin did an amazing job on the cover, and there's a little sneak peak of what's to come.

I realize it's been a while between issues, and the whole team appreciates your continued patience. We would rather do it right, then rush the process, and put out something we're not proud of.  We are now that much closer to finishing the first arc! Thanks for hanging in there with us!

The Kickstarter campaign for this issue is tentatively planned for September/October. I will check in again when I have more information.

Best,

Andrew

Issue #3 Update!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Nov 01, 2018 at 10:18:52 PM

Hey Gang,

I know it's been a while, but I wanted to check in with some major updates. I really hope all of you enjoyed the first two issues of the series. The feedback I've received on social media and from those of you I've been lucky enough to meet in person at conventions, has been nothing short of amazing! It's that type of reception that makes it all worth while.

After almost 6 years, two Kickstarter campaigns, and hundreds of emails, I finally got to meet Michele, the artist and co-creator of Rum Row in person!

Michele lives in Rome, so almost all of our conversations have been either over direct message, email, or Skype. Which means usually one of us is up in the early morning or extremely late hours due to the time difference. But last month, I was able to meet Michele and his girlfriend over beers, and it was great! Part of the fun of collaborating is getting to know and become friends with your fellow creators. So getting to catch up, exchange stories, and talk the future of Rum Row was a blast.

As I'm sure most of you know, Michele has been hard at work with Marvel over the last year. Michele is working his ultimate dream job, and I couldn't be more happy for him. However, I do realize this has slowed production on issue #3, and was one of our topics of conversation. And although neither of us took the decision lightly, we both decided it would be best to move forward with another artist.

I know as a reader, that artist changes can be painful, especially mid arc. But we would not continue if we were not 100% confident in the replacement. It was actually during the anthology, that I came across the perfect candidate. The amazing Gavin Mitchell. Here's a little sample of his art that you may have seen in my posts for the anthology:

When I reached out to Gavin, he was in! His passion and excitement for the project has shown in every piece. We have already started production for issue #3, and we will go directly through issue #4 without stopping, to avoid any further roadblocks. I have been blown away with what I've seen so far, and couldn't be happier with how things are turning out. Check out his amazing opening sequence for issue #3:

Is that fantastic or what?! We have that and so much more coming ahead. Huge action and even bigger reveals! This comic has been a true labor of love, and it means the world to us that you've come along for the ride. Definitely check out Gavin's amazing art @bobgoblynn on Instagram and Twitter, and make him feel welcome on the Rum Row Facebook page. Also if you're a Marvel fan, keep an eye out for all of Michele's awesome books as well. He's doing some truly next level stuff for them. I still can't believe how lucky I am to work with such amazing talents.

Until next time!

Best,

Andrew

Update and a New Project Launch!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jul 10, 2018 at 02:07:17 PM

Hey Gang,

I wanted to check in, and say that the anthology is still moving full steam ahead! I have two stories currently in production, and plan on posting art very soon. One written by the fantastic Madeleine Holly-Rosing of Boston Metaphysical Society (a superb steampunk series if you haven't read it already). So stay tuned.

In other news, our sci-fi series I mentioned last update is finally launching today! It's called the Bawdy Tales of Lazlo Cale. If you're a fan of films like Ocean's 11 or The Thomas Crowne Affair, and sci-fi in the vein of The 5th Element, or Sex Criminals, then you'll love Lazlo.

Check out some awesome art below:

In addition, the amazing Jim Rugg of Street Angel and Afrodisiac did a variant cover!

If you've enjoyed my work on Rum Row, love zany sci-fi, and beautiful artwork with a European flair, then definitely check us out. The Kickstarter link is here.

Thanks again! Have a great rest of the week.

Best,

Andrew

Progress Report!
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jun 11, 2018 at 10:20:19 PM

Hey Gang,

I wanted to check in, and show how things are progressing in the Rum Row universe. Although issue #3 production has slowed due to Michele's current Marvel commitments, there is still plenty of great Rum Row adventure coming your way. That's right, I'm talking about the upcoming anthology!

Check out this beautiful wrap around cover by the amazing Mateus Santolouco and Marcelo Costa's fantastic colors:

The anthology will explore the various districts, politics, and eccentric inhabitants that we don't normally get to see in the main series. Here's a quick preview of Drew Moss of Image's Copperhead series, drawing a story following the aerial fire fighters of the Row.

Last but not least, we have the uber talented artist Louie Joyce, doing a piece that really turned out phenomenal.

I highly encourage you (if you're not already) to follow our Rum Row Facebook page, where we post weekly art and process updates. This anthology is going to be a true sight to behold, coming in at a total of 14 stories by an all-star team of creators. The plan is to release it as a hardcover, and should be a nice collection to accompany the finished first arc of the main Rum Row story.

In addition, our monthly newsletter is a great place to get updates on all of our projects, like Aldous Spark and the upcoming sci-fi caper The Bawdy Tales of Lazlo Cale, which we're launching on Kickstarter July 10th. You can sign up here if you're interested.

I think that's all for now. I hope everyone is doing well! I'm here if you have any questions.

Best,

Andrew
